Reiki  -  Life  Energy  Renewal

Reiki is a simple hands-on art of energy renewal.  The energy is transferred via the practitioner's hands to the recipient.  Reiki restores harmony and balance by working on all aspects of our being - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.  Reiki enhances energy levels, and brings inner calm, relief from stress, and release of tension.  By increasing the vital force, Reiki can also help to improve physical ailments.

 Reiki energy is felt as warm, chill, or tingling in the practitioner's hands.  The recipient will usually also experience some of these sensations.  The process of energy transfer is generally calming and comforting, even meditative.  Reiki is supportive, and facilitates personal growth and transformation.  It has been described as receiving unconditional love.

The word Reiki is Japanese for universal life force.  The universe gives us boundless energy for all our needs.  The Reiki practitioner is acting only as a channel for this energy.  Reiki is not associated with any religion or other group, and it is universal in application.

I trained as a Reiki practitioner in 1995 with Barbara McGregor, who undertook a seven-year aprentership with her teacher before herself becoming a Reiki master and teacher.  Her system of Reiki remains unchanged from the traditional teachings of Dr. Usui.
